She also enjoys singing with her church choir. Her favorite activity is spending time with her family and entertaining friends in her home.

Deborah completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Georgia State University in 1984. She then worked as a Registered Nurse at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in the areas of care for Premature and Newborn Infants, the Emergency Department, and in a program as a School Nurse Consultant as a resource for five county school systems. Her work included teaching school staff about chronic illnesses such as asthma and diabetes, finding resources to assist the needs of children in the schools, and serving as an informational resource to other School Nurses. She returned to Georgia State University where she received her Masters of Science in Nursing in 2001. She is certified by the National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and has been a Fellow of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners since 2001.
